I asked DFC and he said it was okay.

I can't follow who's voting for what... E.T. wasn't even on the one-vote list this morning, and now it's on the core list... What's going on?!! Pleas share here.

Anyway, this Monday, I've cast a vote for Los Olvidados based on a viewing, I was convinced to re-register my old withdrawn vote for E.T., and I cast "haven't seen" votes for Only Yesterday and Children for Heaven -- but that only raised them to two votes each so they still need more to place.

I'm holding off on giving Beyond Silence a "haven't seen" vote because I'm expecting to receive the DVD today from Netflix. Since I can't absolutely guarantee that I will watch it before the close of this exercise, it's okay with me if others give it a "haven't seen" vote before I view it.

As for Anne Frank, if so few have seen it, I figure it's most appropriate for one of your last minute Wild Card votes.

My current standard for voting for a movie I haven’t seen is -- expressed interest on my part (my daily list), passion from at least one judge, and endorsement from at least one non-judge active participant. Anne Frank has not met the last criterion yet.

I’m not utilizing any outside links, research, or IMDb user comments to make my decisions. My votes are based almost entirely on input from the two threads, our discussions here, and a small amount of personal prejudice in favor of movies that I’ve previously heard of and want to see.

I've been reading Wild errmmm... Nights, and sympathize with her interest in the subject, but my stand remains firm. In order to validate the participation of non-judges, I really think we have to be more forthcoming about supporting the movies that they've seen and love.

I might feel differently about my criteria if ALL the judges were applying this same standard, but they aren't. There's still a good chance you'll get the needed support from one of the others. In the meantime, I'll keep plugging for a non-judge endorsement.

My current favorites not on the core list are:

The Children Are Watching Us
The Curse of the Cat People
A Summer at Grandpa's

In that case, I throw my entire support behind the largely unmentioned, woefully overlooked The Curse of the Cat People.

an unseen one -- I haven't any idea what my other will be. I'll defer "Beyind Silence" until after Lee sees it. Since he might be able to give it a seen vote.

I think I already put this "over the top" earlier today.

I submitted a pretty enthusiastic vote in support of Captains Courageous based on last night's viewing. I loved the shots of Bartholomew working with, and enjoying the company, of his guardian angel Spencer Tracy. He's also surprisingly believable in his nasty manipulations in the beginning. Granted, he slips into the Hollywood generic child mode from time to time, but this is head and shoulders above most 30's work about children.

I watched Beyond Silence and would have supported it, but it appropriately made the list without my help.

My "haven't seen" votes were for Kes and The Long Day Closes.

I've requested more information on Housekeeping on the main board.
