dvd?

Having a hard time finding this on DVD. Does it exist?

Is it VHS only?

reply

Probably only VHS.

I was unable to obtain this through the Seattle Public Library and the University of Washington, but, after placing a 100 dollar deposit, I got the VHS at Scarecrow in Seattle.

I bought it when it came out on VHS. No DVD yet? Outrageous! Someone is going to get a pile of money off of this fine old picture... someday.

reply

It IS available on DVD, but as of the date of this post, only as disc #53 of the $400+ "Hollywood Musicals Collection" boxed set from MGM/Fox.

Disc #20, The Goldwyn Follies, will be released separately in April, so we can only hope that "Whoopee" (and "Kid Millions") will follow shortly thereafter.

reply

The Goldwyn Follies got its own DVD release, but this film hasn't.

Why? Are they allergic to money or something?

I hope there is a parallel universe with a music group called "Sand, Wind and Fire"

I bought a copy here on http://scootermoviesshop.com/cubecart/musical/whoopee-1930-dvd/prod_93 .html

Very reliable, always good quality copies! Haven't got this in the mail yet, but i'm sure it's good quality.

I got a beautiful DVD-R of this film from ioffer. I think it is taken either from that massive musical set or an old laser disc version. The picture and sound are superb and the disc even includes an extra: a gorgeous Technicolor copy of the 1934 short "Good Morning Eve." "Whoopee!" looks better than the old VHS version and even includes the exit music after the end title.

It's avauilble through Warner Archives Manufactured On Demand fopr $21.99. I've heard it's a pretty good copy.
