Very powerful film, even by todays standards. I think it's superior to "All Quiet on the Western Front", which was released three years later. I definitely would recommend seeing this film.

I think it is on the same caiber of AQOTHWF. A little diffrerent, but the same message. I do not think I have seen any modern movie that an compare to those two movies. ON TCM they are showiing Good Morning Vietnam right after they showed tis movie, wanted to shoot the program director What in the heck was he/she thinking putting that fluff right after a movie like Westfront 1918. Why not a Path of Glory or AQOTWF,

"All Quiet on the Western Front" was released the same year as "Westfront 1918". I would like to see them back to back - there seems to be several things that are pretty similar.
