I saw it. It was good, but it looked like either parts of it had been edited (maybe for racial stuff ?) or looked like it due to lost footage.

While this is true, you're at the mercy of whatever print of a film TCM is able to get their hands on. Many times, a pre-code film like this one, would be re-released to theaters in the late '30s or early '40s. When that happened, scenes or pieces of scenes with racy dialogue or visuals would be cut. And sometimes, that cut version may be the only surviving version of the film.

You are correct gribfritz2. The print I saw on TCM this past month didn't seem to have any content cut out (that I could tell at least) and in some stretches was pretty good. In others, however, the sound was terribly scratchy and noisey (could be from the sound technology of the time, though) and in some sections it was "jumpy", probably due to worn sproket holes. So, with all those inconsistancies, it did seem like it was spliced together from the best avaiable prints. The film could do with a complete digital restoration.
