Constance Bennett is so so beautiful and elegant in a sleek ruffly black gown in the scene where she meets some other (hostile) women giving her the evil eye! The other women look like the brides of dracula but are equally beautiful and wear the most stunning, skimpy chiffon and sequin gowns! All the men are in tuxedoes and the women are in the most daring skimpy clothing.
shareI agree 100%. Constance Bennett is one of my favorites, she really wears clothing well. I'm not familiar with the costume designer for this movie. I used to own a vintage clothing store and still have quite a few gowns similar to the ones in this film. Unfortunately my lifestyle doesn't include events where I can wear them. Other than New Year's Eve, I feel like I was born in the wrong era.
There's a film available on demand right now called "Mandalay " starring Kay Francis that has some gorgeous gowns by my favorite 1930's costume designer "Orry Kelly". Kay is another one who really wears clothing well.
