The real premiere date - April 1937

There seems to be a LOT of confusion about the release date of this film, with various people (including myself) saying that it was released anytime from 1930 to 1941. IMDB's release date of 1930 seems to be wrong, because that's when Starevich started working on it. The 1941 date is possibly when it was released in France. The 1939 date that's so often floated around... I have no idea. Possibly people extrapolating from the statement that he worked on this film for 10 years? 1929+10=1939, so perhaps that's how that date first appeared.

Anyway, it appears that the film was given the final funds for its completion by Germany's Nazi party (Goethe had written a classic version of the Reynard legend), and so received its premiere in Berlin in April 1937. At least according to this article (and many others, if you do a google search):

I guess I could submit a request to IMDB and ask them to change it, but I think that that would be pointless - none of my dozen updates to IMDB have yet gone through the system, and some of them are more than 4 months old. Maybe one of you could try it? I might have a mark against my name because I accidentally submitted some incorrect info in one of my first updates.

Aha... it seems that in 1939 the French voices were recorded... but the film wasn't released in France until 1941. At least that's what this link says:

There's so much conflicting info about this film...
