The half-caste part is correct. That he was a homosexual was never mentioned.
shareIt is true that it is never mentioned. But the movie is based on a novel named Enter Sir John in which he indeed was homosexual, and there are hints in the movie that he is here too.
At the time censors would barely allow homosexuality to be mentioned in movies, so Hitch used the "half-caste" thing as a cover.
This isn't my own theory by any means, I've read it in several books, but it does make perfect sense.
