First time Norma's ever missed the mark for me

I almost turned this off. And mind you, I worship Shearer, fabulous in everything I've seen until this.

Giggling. Giggling. Giggling. Giggling. Non-stop giggling, like some fool-proof shorthand for flirtation. Which is was, for say, the first twenty minutes. After that I can't fathom anyone wanting to stay in the room with her. Not fetching or sexy, just ... manic.

I wonder if she was too big to touch at this point, and Leonard not skilled or powerful enough to contain her.

Really not a good reflection of how excellent she could be.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Yes, you're so right. Far too much giggling.
She was doing it every other sentence with everyone, not just gentlemen, and there wasn't anything to be giggling about. I think her character, Kitty, was trying too hard to be delightful and gay and wasn't really being herself. She went to Paris to learn to be a model and to be sociable. But it was fake and not her true nature.
Maybe that's how good of an actor she was because she was acting at being fake and it is why we found it so irritating.

If we acted like that today we'd be accused of being on a drug or something. It's Definitely manic.

With that being said Norma Shearer was beautiful and a great actress.
