Pretty Woman...

I'm wondering if the 1990 movie Pretty woman was based on this movie... It has alot in common.... Like, poor call girl/rich guy....Girl falls for guy first....other characters in film don't approve....girl has call girl friend...and the scene at breakfast and the balcony (height) scene! All of this was in Pretty Woman too!!! ..Does anyone else agree?

The second half of Ladies of Leisure borrows heavily from Dumas' Camille. Most notably, the woman of ill repute giving up her true love at the appeal of his parent, knowing that being together would harm him because of her reputation. But Ladies... has a happy ending. Interestingly, Barbara Stanwyck's future husband Robert Taylor played the male lead in the 1936 film version of Camille.
