Don't watch this film - unless ...

Don't watch this film - unless you realize that it is outside H.'s normal canon.

What you will be seeing is a transfer of the famous play of the same name by Sean O'Casey to film. It is both a drama and an historical record, so don't expect 'The Birds' or even 'The 39 Steps'.

Think of it as watching a Sean O'Casey film (if such a thing existed) - and that will temper your expectations.

And if you didn't know: Seán O'Casey was a major Irish playwright and a strong socialist. He is famous for writing about the working classes in Eire.

So - now you know what to expect - and please stop whining.

Tissues not needed? Then it can't be a tearjerker.
