Boring Leading Men

I can't understand the casting of these two guys as the leads - they were so boring and unimpressive. I am a huge classic movie fan and I've never seen them in anything else. As much money as Hughes spent, you'd think he would have sprung for better actors. I know talkies were new, but he could have gotten a young Gary Cooper, Ronald Coleman, or Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Really anyone would have been better than these two.

Jean Harlow was a star in the making though. She stole every scene she was in.
