War is stupid, contrived, evil and the losses just inhumane. Manipulation of the masses is still going on, finding new enemies and creating them when none really exist.
Its a shame objectors like him are shown this way in film.

shareYes, but sometimes it's necessary, even noble, when it's to defeat a lunatic like Hitler, and free millions of people as in WW II. He was an incredibly evil madman, and had to be destroyed.
On the other hand WW I WAS useless. I've studied it, and still can't understand why it started, or what they were fighting for. I'm not sure the participants knew either. Sad.
