In defense of Frank Richardson

One of the reviewers here wondered why Frank Richardson was in the movie as he had such a screeching voice (the guy hated the whole film anyway so I'm not sure why he's picking on Richardson.)

The truth is that Richardson was a fantastic singer and had a flourishing career in vaudeville in the 20s. Just watch him singing Mona from the movie (the clip is on YT). He rocks! The reviewer obviously knows nothing and cares less about early film. Richardson was also an accomplished comic actor, as witness the 1929 movie Sunny Side Up where he is paired with Marjorie White. Their song Picking Daisies is a comedy classic.
