Art Imitating Life ...

Did anyone think when they saw the scene with Elvira's mother and Buster that it seems a bit similar to how Peg Talmadge sounded?? Also, the scene where Buster tries to give an opinion to some people at MGM and they ignore him, I wonder if there is some "Art imitating Life"???
