Spotlight: Sexy Pre-Code Shearer (Post One)

I love your website, upperco. It's now at the top of the list in my bookmarks folder for Movie Stuff. I just discovered pre-code movies earlier this year and have chased down as many as I can. Norma Shearer quickly became my favorite from that era, and I've seen all six of the movies you review in your three-part series. The one I'm trying to find now is Strange Interlude. I've also seen some of her post-1934 movies but don't find them nearly as interesting, through no fault of her own.

It's pretty much a dead heat between Norma and Miriam Hopkins for my favorite actress of the era (can't forget Louise Brooks either, especially her performance in my favorite silent movie, Pandora's Box). Have you seen The Story of Temple Drake with Miriam as its star? If not, I can't recommend it enough. It's themes are pretty shocking for its time.
