I finally got around to watching this yesterday and I loved it. I was put off for ages as imdb lists it as a drama/musical, and I hate musicals. Just because it has a few scenes of Dietrich singing on stage does not make it a musical. "Musical" should be removed from the genre listing for this excellent film, in case there are other people out there who are put off it like I was!

I'm not sure if there has been a change since you posted this or not, but it is not listed as a musical, it is listed under Music and Drama, which is perfectly accurate. Because music and musical are two distinctly separate genres on IMDb.

Movies listed as part of the music genre are those which are not really musicals but they contain songs.
