Screen Test

I just recently bought the dvd of this (what a great movie! Emil Jannings was incredible) and was wondering about Marlene Dietrich's screen test.... was she genuinely pissed off at the piano player or was it just part of her act? (Probably a stupid question, but I don't really know much about her or what she was like.)

At the end of the screen test you can see a quick moment where Marlene seems to apologize to the piano player.
So, yes, I think it was just her being in character.
But it was brilliant, wasn't it?!
