Yosemite Sam

Is it just me or is the character Red Flack the equivalent of Yosemite Sam?

reply

No, its not just you - he gives me the same vibe too. Hard to believe he was the father of Tyrone Power! The son did not take after the father much in the looks department, which was to the benefit of the son. Did you see the close-up in the trading post before they take off at the beginning of the film? He had some of the worst teeth I've ever seen! When one of the characters calls him a "he-grizzly", I had to laugh it was so appropriate.

Actually, he reminds me more of Bluto from the early POPEYE cartoons

About the only physical attributes Senior and Junior seemed to share were their bushy eyebrows. I assume Fox made Junior shave his, but Senior's brows meet above his nose.

"We're fighting for this woman's honor, which is more than she ever did."

Yep.

I also was thinking "live action Bluto." It's possible that the Popeye cartoons villain was based on Tyrone Power Sr.

Okay folks, show's over, nothing to see here!

That's understandable, considering that he was over 60 years old at the time of this movie. But if you google photos of him in his prime, you can see that the son Tyrone Power bears a remarkable resemblance to him, in the looks department.
