Lew Ayers

Anybody notice the resemblance to a very young John Wayne?
Could JW's career be partly based on the possibility he resembled Lew Ayers?
Being unfamiliar with Lew Ayers I watched the credits to verify JW wasn't in the movie even under his real name.

Lew looks like Joe Strummer and Edward Norton.

'Hey hey mama said the way you move!'

Yeah I thought he looked like a young John Wayne. Except times his emotional scenes came across as over-acting to me, which is something I doubt I could often accuse John Wayne of, haha.

The way he acts and delivers his lines reminds me a bit of the character Pete Campbell from Mad Men, believe it or not. I don't know if it's just both actors or what, it's that mix of self-assuredness and terrible anxiety.

Having had another look and thought about it, there's also a little of Robert Patrick about him, ie. the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Hair style and face, there's a similarity. That would be one hell of a movie mashup, he could go about morphing out of the floor and killing enemies by stabbing them in the eye with his extended finger. Fascinating thread ey, shame I'm talking to myself...

I think Robert Patrick is closer in looks than John Wayne. John Wayne was a year older, seven inches taller, and probably close to a hundred pounds heavier (back in his prime at 235, Lew is a slim guy and the Duke was a full back). I think JW was still working as a stuntman and extra when AQONTWF was made.
