Wasn't one of the victims at the beginning shot??...

Why, I wonder, do they insist all through the film that all of the victims were strangled?

I was wondering about that, too. Maybe the scriptwriters meant to have a shooting victim in the film, but then came the editing job and somehow that shooting victim was forgotten.

I'm watching this again right now, and I think that they wanted to show at the beginning just what sort of crimes were being committed in the fog. Someone was shot, but the story isn't about that victim. The story is about the strangled victims, and we don't see those attacks at the beginning of the film.
