Breakdancing in 1929!

Toward the end of the incredible finale (chandeliers made of girls (yes!), unbelievable dresses, etc.) two male dancers in artist's attire come out and do a great breakdancing routine. Since this is the 1920s it proves that there's nothing new under the sun....

There are quite a few break-dancing routines in old movies. Bert Wheeler does it in the 1929 film "Rio Rita." A one-legged dancer named Nicodemus (yes, you read that right) does it in the 1942 "Soundie" of Louis Armstrong's "Shine." And in the film "Silk Stockings," made in 1957, Fred Astaire break-dances to a rock 'n' roll song written by, of all people, Cole Porter. There really is nothing new under the sun!

I think the girl chandelier thing is very odd. What is the point of that? I also think that the first woman dancer was hilarious! She was shaking so much, it reminded me of me.

If we're talking about the same dancer, she reminded me a bit of Josephine Baker.

Can't you just imagine all the hometown 'fans' that told these goofy guys that they just HAD to "go to Hollywood!"?? This God-awful movie was probably the only time they were ever on screen.
