Parts of the Prologue can be seen on YouTube

Just type in Showboat (1929) exactly the way I've written it, and you can see Tess Gardella, the stage Queenie, performing her two big musical numbers from the original show (in full costume) - "C'mon Folks (Queenie's Ballyhoo)" and "Hey Feller!". She was a white performer who appeared in blackface, but it's hard to tell from this clip. Presumably, the two songs - heard complete - are sung and danced very much as they were in the show. The Jubilee Singers are also featured.

Or copy and paste http://www.youtube. com/watch?v=cpg2sa- 0 Jqc and http://www.youtube. com/watch?v=j6G7E5R Q 9QA.

On the Laserdisc release of "The Complete 'Show Boat'", as well as the version of the 1929 "Show Boat" shown every so often on Turner Classic Movies, the soundtrack to "C'mon Folks" can be heard, but the picture cannot be seen, and "Hey Feller" isn't even included. IMHO, if it's so easy to obtain both sound and picture of this sequence that someone can actually put it on YouTube, it should be a small matter for TCM to include it when they next show the 1929 "Show Boat", and it's shameful that they haven't.
