Love those Pre-Code moments

Saw this film for the first time today, on TCM. I especially enjoyed the routine where Marianne (Marion Davies, of course) disguises herself as an officer. In male attire she approaches the American commander, trying to get information about her boyfriend who is in the brig. The General misinterprets what the French lieutenant is saying as an attempt to flirt, recoils and says: "Not in this Army!"

Just a few years later, the Breen office would not have permitted that. This is why I love Pre-Codes!
