Anny Ondra or Ida Lupino?
Is it just me or does Anny Ondra look a lot like Ida Lupino? Same heart-shaped face, eyes, cupid's-bow mouth. Even her mannerisms and expressions are like Ida's.
Keen observation! Though Anny's face seems broader and her hair, of course, is lighter. Her facial reactions are a study in responding to a director's (in this case Hitchcock's) shouted instructions: Now smile, now drop the smile because you feel guilty, now smile again lest you be seen frowning... I am referring to the wedding dinner. I don't know if Ida Lupino quite had to do that, but she did show torn emotions in her performances and did it as well as any of her contemporaries.
