I especially liked the part about the police raid

It warmed the cockles of my heart to see the police in action, defending common decency, democracy, and law and order. Arresting all those criminals who believed they had a God-given right to drink and dance the night away, and in general have a good time. Those degenerates.

BTW: I was called out of the room for a moment, so I missed something. I understood that the drinking boat was believed to be outside the twelve-mile limit, but that it had been "drifting" for some time before the raid. I got the impression that this "drift" was somehow engineered by the authorities, so that the raid could take place. Was that impression correct?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, a few rounds from the fifteen inch guns on a battleship would have done the trick.

Funny, that raid scene looked so familiar. Like that sort of stuff is still going on today.

The movie was seen by me today and I can't recall a battleship. But the pleasure boat had to drift back into illegal waters for the plot. A picture is taken of a disheveled Ann in the saloon just after the raid. The villain Frank
bribes the head agent not to arrest them. He uses the photograph later to try and blackmail Ann.
