It stealthly invites viewer to accept protagonist's uncle point of view for whom the noble idea of proving that black people in Africa are capable of creating the great civilization is BS by default!
So, you'd rather we bury the past and not admit that people once thought these things? You bury a valuable piece of film history because it exhibits some ideas you don't care for? Would you burn Birth Of A Nation as well? I suppose there are some books you'd like to burn as well... so that people wouldn't be reminded of distasteful aspects of the past?
Most anyone who is going to seek out and sit down with an old film like this are going to be fairly well educated. They're going to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.
