Sound footage?
On TCM this film was introduced as having some sound sequences. However, the print they show is all silent. I was wondering if these sequences still exist... or where I might find them?

shareI was wondering the same thing. Didn't he tell us that the last two scenes had sound and that he was going to show them?
shareWell it's 2011 and I didn't hear any sound sequence on the showing tonight so my guess is Osborne doesn't know himself this is a silent.
shareIn the commentary on the film on the DVD (on the Treasures III box set), it is mentioned that the version with dialogue sequences exists in the UCLA archives.
DeMille agreed that parts of the end of the film could be reshot with sound, but he himself declined to direct those sequences. They were directed by a German actor, Fritz Feld, in November 1928.
The version on DVD in Treasures III was restored by Eastman House and is DeMille's original completely silent version.
I remember seeing an original 35mm reel 1 of this film with the soundtrack, which was music during that portion.
