Mary Eaton

I never heard of this pretty lady until I first watched this in 1984 & when she sings her song "No Foolin", then I thought wow! Sometimes though I get more sad watching certain films and this was one of them when I would later read that Mary later sank into alcoholism & died at a young 47. Two of her siblings lived well past 90.

I now hear that the film has been restored & one doesn't have to rely on poor public domain copies to view this.

One of the better parts is Helen Morgan sitting on the grand piano singing her song "What Would I Do For That Man". Awesome catching the tail end of the Roaring 20s as the film was likely shot a few months before the Wall Street crash.

The thing that impressed me most about Mary Eaton is how athletic she was. On the whole, dancing in the 2000s is more vigorous than the 1920s but Gloria Hughes was definitely toned and muscley.

If athletic girls had more options than being a dancer back Mary Eaton grew up 100 years ago, I wonder how she may have ended up? Maybe one of those women who compete in fitness events or an Olympian.

Often substance abusers don't get enough stimulation in other parts of their lives. I can see Ms. Eaton's alcholism being a side effect of a stifled life.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
