Telegraph Crying

The copy of the movie I watch was pretty muddy visually and the sound was inconsistent. Everything looked ghostly and the costumes blended into the actors and dancers.

Did anyone get what was going on with the telegraph Gloria got near the end of the film? Her mother read it and then Gloria cried while dressing for the next scene.

The telegram couldn't have been about either Buddy or Barbara since we saw them sitting together in the audience. I couldn't think of any other character she'd care enough about to cry for.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
