Death on the Lonely Lunar Surface

This is one of those movies that makes me feel sad when the bad guy dies. It just seems so pathetic that he has no one back home to whom the heroes can deliver a message. Anyone else feel the same?

Here is a list of other movie villains who have provoked a similar response: http://cinefantastiqueonline.com/2010/04/sense-of-wonder-shed-a-tear-f or-the-bad-guy

And to add to the sadness, Friede caresses his face as he's dying: finally, a moment of kindness and gentleness in the last moments of his life, when it's too late. You can even see in his eyes the realization of what a wasteland his life has been, and how much he has missed.

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

I just wonder if he was buried, or vaporized when the ship took off or tossed down that crack by the gold...

Yeah, the finale of the movie in general was just incredibly bittersweet.
