To all you scientific critics out there.

This movie was made in 1929.Going to the moon was just a fantasy back then and no one thought that seriously we would be going there 40 years later.
They did have a fact checker and science advisor- but please remember the date.
Even today scientists don't really know what is going on on most of the moon, strange lights once in a while, deep craters on the dark side and who knows what else.
Man has only made just a very few trips to the moon to gather a few rocks, but no real exploring has been done.
I think Russia is planing another trip to the moon shortly and hopefully they will do some serious exploration- technology has advanced to the point where we should be able to answer a lot more questions now.
All in all i found the movie entertaining- the back story did not interest me that much but i stuck it out until it got to the meat and potato's of the movie.
Special effects- well done ,again considering when this movie was made.
Acting good- you have to remember that a silent movie is a lot different than a talkie- they have to gesture a lot to make sure the audience understands what is going on.
Many people find that gesturing really funny- it was really important back then.
If you feel the need to be super critical of this movie then for comparison check out the 1902 movie "A trip to the moon" by George Me'lie's. That movie makes this one look like an accurate documentary made today!

I have seen a lot of silent films, but the amount of gesturing in this one was excessive. Somebody would utter a simple declarative sentence, and it would be followed by twenty or thirty seconds' worth of gesticulating. It wore me out.

It would be tedious to list all the scientific absurdities in the movie, so I agree that you just have to let all that slide. But my favorite was when they watch the sun come into view from behind the Earth, and Helius says, “On our Earth, the sun is just rising.”

This movie was certainly not the last time a moon landing was created in a studio, if you catch my drift.
