I was called away from the last part of the film during it's broadcast on TMC and it was all over and done with by the time I was able to come back to the television. I see references to lost footage cut from near the end....what exactly happened!

At about the 54:27 mark, there is the jump due to lost footage(?) and the character is suddenly holding a gun, but this is how it was shown on TCM too.
