Play's influence on William Inge and Tennessee Williams?

COQUETTE was a major Broadway play in the 1920's starring Helen Hayes and the movie with Mary Pickford was also a big hit. I'm wondering if this Southern melodrama/romantic tragedy had an influence on Tennessee Williams and William Inge's writings? I've never seen a mention of it in any biographies of these playwrights but the storyline seems very much in the tradition of several of their works (if admittedly not appearing to be anywhere near as finely crafted). Inge's SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS in particular seems to have been a somewhat inspired by COQUETTE. Anyone else see parallels?
