Actual case that inspired COQUETTE

The play/movie was loosely based on the 1925 shooting of Bill Ormond by textile magnate W.B. Cole on main street in downtown Rockingham NC. Cole hired s team of attorneys thatt got him off by reason of temporary insanity. The Cole family has donated generously to the betterment of Rockingham.
