Harpo's Hat

Harpo's hat is in pretty good shape in this movie. In "The Big Store" (about 12 years later) it is so beaten up and holey that a big patch of his hair stick out. Does anyone know if he actually used the same hat for several films? Chico's hat always looks the same...

I thought I read somewhere that he did actually use his same hat, horn and but I'm not so sure about the harp, but I agree it gets worse and worse , i'm mean lets see...1929 - late 1940's? almost 20 years, its a pretty tough hat.

I recall seeing a photo in a book years ago of stuff Harpo carried on the road while in vaudeville. The harp of course, was packed in a large, bulky box. There were three wigs on stands, and at least two top hats. One was battered and ragged, the other was pretty spiffy. And an assortment of horns, seltzer bottles, torn shirts and vests, trick cigarettes, holey shoes, etc. Assuming the Marxes didn't carry everything themselves, they must've had roadies.
