And so far it's very antiquated, I laugh out out loud in disbelief during the musical numbers. Not only are they poorly staged and the girls not really all that talented, the musical numbers are far too frequent and get in the way of The Marx Brothers. With things like this it's quite easy to see why the movie flopped (Or do I have the wrong movie?).
I finished watching it last night and it got a little better as it went on, but the musical parts were poorly staged. And the cinematography wasn't all that great either. But it's possible that I am being unfairly harsh on the movie, after all it's one of the early sound films.
Over all I give it a 5/10 for the Marx Brothers and the forever bewildered Margaret Dumont. Groucho and Dumont have excellent chemistry together, and always bring the laughs.
Also I just started Animal Crackers and so far it is more entertaining, with the songs seeming to be part of the lunacy of the Marx Brothers instead of being an intrusion.
