At the very end (you'll have to freeze-frame to see it) notice when the detective carries the jester painting through the door, on the back of the canvas is the cartoon painting that Alice did the night of the murder.
I went back & watched the murder scene, and she definitely draws the cartoon on a different canvas on the other side of the room from the jester painting, so how/why did it end up on the jester's back?
yes....the paintings added for some shock value and to add doubt into the happy ending....but....
On the other hand why would the paintings have been removed and transported in the first place???? :)

Actually, if you look closely, youm can clearly see that it is the two canvasses carried back to back.
Evidence of that is, the hole in the Jester canvass is blocked out by the white back of the cartoon canvass.
Sorry, it is two canvasses, not one.
