Certain points not adding up...Spoilers

I did not understand if she was going to have an affair why did she get so uptight when he wanted sex. It had to be something she thought about.

I also did not really get why the husband all of a sudden would go so far as to fame an innocent man of murder to protect someone whom clearly blew him off and was just about done with him. Was it his or her reputation or something else.

It was wrong to to frame the blackmailer, even though he's hardly "an innocent" by any definition. But there's no doubt that any case against the blackmailer in a murder charge would have fallen apart at the seams if he hadn't accidentally fallen to his death at the end of the chase.

Okay folks, show's over, nothing to see here!

And the cop wasn't her husband -- he was her boyfriend.

Most likely, she was still a virgin and had cold feet about going all the way through with what the artist had in mind, so he forced himself on her and got what he deserved.

As for why the boyfried / cop wanted to protect her in spite of her sneaky and faithless conduct, that's what happens in a lot of relationships, i.e., the wronged party still loves the other who had done him (or her) wrong.

She didn't necessarily want to have sex with him. Sounds to me like she had met him and maybe she just wanted a sexless first date.
