Where to find a Region 1 silent version of Blackmail?

I have read that the original silent version of "Blackmail" is really like a different film from the sound version and that the silent version is superior. Other than the Region 2 release made in Germany of both versions, I cannot find a copy of a Region 1 silent version anywhere, including a DVD copy made from another source. Does anybody know where I can find the silent version in a Region 1 DVD? Thanks.

I'd like to know, too. If the sound version is public domain, then the silent version MUST be PD (simply because there's no music track to copyright). Why is it so hard to find?

People believe what they want to believe. One term for this is Faith. Another is Delusion.

I have it on DVD but it's in a collection of mainly Hitchcock Silent films but I don't remember if it's silent. I'll come back later and let you know.

Nope. It's the talkie version.
