There is a reason it seems 'stagey' at time

Hi -

Just in case it is unclear, this film was adapted from the stage play "The Berg" by Ernest Raymond. The work was indeed fictionalized, in fact the name of the ship in the play was "The Atlantic"

I also see that apparently English, French and German language versions of this film were created simultaneously.
