What was the significance of the Ace of Spades? Spoilers

What was the significance of the Ace of Spades in the hand of Diana at the end of the film?

reply

I think it symbolises death (especially if one thinks that this somes just right before Diana's suicide), this is how it is explained in the original book "The Green hat" which I had the chance to read some time ago.

I never read the book but watching the movie I thought it meant she was supposed to end up alone. I only thought that because it's a single digit card. I don't really play cards but I was under the impression an ace was a good card to have in most card games.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

It seems Ace of Spades is commonly symbolizing death.
