Fay Wray

She was so gorgeous in this movie. I've always had the same mental image of her. . . blonde hair and screaming as loud as she possibly can for two hours. I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw her as a sweet, innocent brunette. I enjoyed her so much in this film that I plan on tracking down some more of her early work and checking it out.

Yes, very seldom a silent actress/actor can leave you with a positive impression. When I think of good silent acting, I think of Edna Purviance. But when I saw Fay Wray in this film, I was impressed! The "sweet, innocent brunette" role suited her perfectly. It's worth looking into her earlier films, I know I'm going to.

My image of her exactly! I was so shocked--THAT'S Fay Wray?! She was wonderful in this, and a striking resemblance to Jennifer Connelly.

I thought the same thing.

I must disagree I do not see the resemblance to Jennifer Connelly. In my opinion, Jennifer's face is much "stronger". Contrary to Ms. Wray, Jennifer has severe eyebrows and a square jaw line. Jennifer is very pretty and has stunning blue eyes, it's just a different look. Actually, a little earlier I saw The Clairvoyant (1935) while watching Ms. Wray in that film I was reminded of the 1930's actress Rochelle Hudson and together they both look like Carla Gugino to me.
