The best father/son relationship of any movie

All comedy aside, this was the best, most touching father/son relationship I've seen in any movie. They're so awkward with each other. For instance, the scene where they're buying the hat. Bill senior keeps slapping Buster's hand away while adjusting the hats. That's something a father would do to a small boy, not a grown man.

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

I loved their relationship too. Every scene of them together is great.

I laughed, I cried. One favorite part was Bill, Sr. reprimanding Jr. for trying to walk away from a fight. He grabs his hand, curls it into a fist, uses it to hit the guy, then points to it saying, "That's what that's for." Then he goes around pretending Bill Jr. actually hit the guy and talks up his toughness to the sheriff. The way Jr. deals with him is another priceless scene! This is, quite simply, one of the best movies ever.

I thought it was kind of cute the way Bill Sr. walks everywhere holding/dragging Jr. by the hand, also looks like something you'd do with a small child and not a grown college man. It reminded me a bit of Rebel Without a Cause, behind the scenes Sal Mineo explained when they were shooting his death scene, James Dean would not let him out of his sight for the whole day, like he was worried Sal himself was going to die if he'd let him out of his sight.
