Ernie Kovacs music.

The music played during the early nightclub scene has a lot of similarity to the closing theme of the old Ernie Kovacs show. A jazzed up version and of course without the funny sound effects.

I wonder if this restoration is using new music or if this is actually the score that the theater piano players would have used.

edit: Found on youtube the Kovacs piece to which I referred.

Quoting one of the youtube comments "I remember this when I was a kid. I used to watch Ernie Kovacs. Years later, I heard George Gershwin's Rialto Ripples.. This theme is an altered version of it."

The score is from 2004 and is by Robert Israel. I heard a lot of other familiar tunes in the soundtrack, so I am guessing that Israel may have quoted from music of the period and perhaps lifted a melody from that Ernie Kovacs piece as well. Kovacs himself would have been only nine years old in 1928.

If he did it at nine? WOW.
