The assumption seems to be in that the scene where the effeminate actor meets the eyes of a burly Broadway stagehand who makes suggestive gestures in his direction, the stagehand is supposed to be making fun of him - I jumped to the conclusion at the time that the laugh was supposed to come from the fact that this very 'butch' type has spotted a fellow soul and is 'outing' himself... David Mir's reaction here reminded me of a well-brought-up maiden who has just been propositioned by a brawny workman; shocked, but, well, thinking about it...
