Almost $30 on Amazon...

...and for how old this movie is it's obviously gonna be bare-bones. Anyone know where to find it cheaper? Other than eBay :|

Ooh, $30ish? It got cheaper! I haven't checked its price on amazon.com in over two years, but around that time I think it was up around $50 or $60. But unfortunately, I don't know where you could buy it at a lower price; maybe you could rent it from a library to watch?

reply

Wow that's a little absurd lol. I can't find it at any stores around here, pawn shops or anything, and even most sites have it at quite a bit. My library only has kids movies...basically :S. Guess I'll have to resort to eBay :(

I'm not sure if your library does this, but you could ask them to order it from another library for you. All of the libraries I go to have some sort of inter-library-loan service.

Good luck finding it!

I might have to try that...never really thought about that. I'm still lookin too, seems like I'm gonna need luck finding it lol.

It's $27 but the cheapest one I could find so far.
I've never seen it though, I might just rent it first.

Good luck!

I bought it for around $23 at www.dvdplanet.com

I recommend buying it from a seller on Amazon's Marketplace. I've bought loads of stuff this way and have only had a problem once - and Amazon refunded me. Currently, one is listed as new and costs $15.89 + $2.89 for shipping.

Thankfully, there is a catchphrase that makes everything okay - "Hey, it's the 21st century."

If you're looking for a dvd I have no clue, it's probably going to be expensive no matter where you go, but if you have lowered standards (or just a sense of nostalgia like mine) something you actually might want to try is antique shops; I found a copy of The Man Who Laughs for four bucks in an antique shop in Poulsbo and pounced on it before anybody else got wise to its existence. I also got Limelight, Monsieur Verdoux, a bunch of Buster Keaton videos like College and Steamboat Bill Jr. and some Marx brothers films. You never know what buried treasure you may run across in an antique shop. :D Then again, like I said, there's the whole quality thing...

Well I live in the UK and I've just ordered a copy from a US dealer through Amazon. I used 'moviemars-usa' and it cost me £10.16 + £1.24 P+P total= £11.40..which at the current exchange rate works out at less than $25.

reply

No, but I was able to rent it on Netflix...constantly surprised at what all they have in their collection.

It might be years too late to help you out now, but you can see this on multiple mirror videos on YouTube for nothing. That's pretty much where I see all the obscure, old, or foreign movies that the Criterion Collection sells for exorbitant prices. The studios that own the rights to these types of films don't seem to care or notice as much as Sony or Disney when their properties are uploaded online.
