Lon Chaney's face was simply extraordinary. He had such a modern look to him. He could be an actor today rivaling any of the Oscar winning stars of the modern era. Loretta Young is absolutely gorgeous in this role, too. What a beauty.
shareWith TCM I've been able to see several of his works. Very powerful and expressioned actor. He actually did a talkie too and was all the better. Loretta was indeed impressive.
shareI usually don't like silent films the actors are mostly over the top. But Lon Chaney was phenomenal in this picture. He never overacted. And I agree Loretta Young was indeed beautiful to behold. I've seen a lot of her movies and was always impressed by her beauty but here she really had an other-worldly look. It almost didn't look like I remember her...she had an innocence about her for this film.
