Truly Classy Entertainment!
The Garden of Eden is really an undeservedly obscure, sophisticated comedy gem. Astonishing sets by William Cameron Menzies and Lewis Milestone's direction is incredibly efficient and witty and shares that same witty sophistication that Rouben Mamoulian and Lubitsch possess.
Corinne Griffith and Charles Ray deserve to be better appreciated today, especially Corinne, who is such a delicate beauty and one can really understand why she was being billed "the world's most beautiful woman,". Though it was very interesting to see Ray go against his usual type [playing country bumpkins], which was probably to revive he sagging career at the time. This was definitely a very lively and romantic drama from the silent era. Highly recommended.
