129 minutes vs 97 minutes

How can 32 minutes have been cut from this movie and have it be the same? I mean the movies is endless at 129 minutes and dragged and dragged. I can see if some scenes were shortened by getting rid of the long periods where nothing happened but 32 minutes?

I doubt these two movies could be the same with 32 minutes cut.

can anyone explain how this happened? why does truffaut list it as 67 minutes!!!!

Can anyone explain how the 97 minute version is the true version and nothing is cut from the 129 minute version? I am very confused by this!!!

No Idea and this is Public Domain movie... My DVD copy backcover (I own "Alfred Hitchcock: The Legend Begins" include 18 titles & 2 TV episodes) mention 98 minute but it only 129 minute. Sometime Public Domain title running time wrong. So this is my first time viewing this today and it very good silent film by Hitchcock and I give a rated 6/10. I did checking out this "The Farmer's Wife" IMDb info before start watching this and curious with Trivia & etc and saw the running time 129 minute and I thought myself "what" strange and this is the right IMDb running time info... thank you IMDb.

Probably has to do with the speed it was originally shown. Read the section under "Projection speed" on this link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_film
