Tightrope walking scene is the funniest scene on film

If you have the slightest sense of humor, you will be in tears. I like crying when Chaplin is sad, but I like crying even more when he makes me laugh. This is the latter. It's the funniest scene I've ever seen in any movie ever.

Just saw it a few days ago. I had been smiling during the movie, but just plain laughed out loud at the tightrope scene.

2 of the funniest scenes I have ever seen were the tightrope scene with the monkey biting Charlies nose and the hat scene with Cary Grant in "The Awful Truth".

Also good is when Chaplin's acting like he's part of the fun house, especially when he hits the pickpocket, turns forward, throws his head back and laughs.

This is my favorite Chaplin movie. It had so many laugh out loud scenes. Off the top of my head there was the gliding up the rope with his feet out stretched, the worm in the apple + banana on head, the white pie that fell on the guy's head and he hinted that it was a giant bird that crapped on him, dusting the fish inside the fish bowl, etc.

I know there was a lot more, but those are the ones that just came to mind.

I loved how he climbed the rope to get up there. And the handstands. He must have had some real upper-body strength!

The horse medicine scene was great too: "The horse blew first."

For me the funniest scene is with the lion cage or the horse chasing him, but the tightrope was a damn close second.

The tightrope scene was the most hilarious moment for me. Watching the Tramp in a closer shot noticing the oblivious use of the safety rope lifting him up and moving him all over the place whilst the crowds below believing its all real made me laugh loud.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

Labeling anything "the funniest scene on film" is dangerous, but I did laugh at it.

I agree that that scene is incredibly funny.
However, what about the very short scene where he's wearing the wire, sitting next to Merna, and the wire is touching the electricity source? To see him jerking up and down, while Merna doesn't know what's happening, is hilarious.
This is definitely one of his finest films, in my opinion, although the Tryout scene could've been left out, I think.
